Rahul Raghavan Music Composer

Rahul says, "I've had the opportunity to work with many film crews, each catering to multimedia of a different language. A true sense that music knows no boundaries. I've had the honor of composing Music for the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, under its stellar Chief Minister, Shri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. I also have several credits to short films, which have been an absolute treat to compose for. I have two full-length films underway and cannot wait to share them with the world. Here are some selected works of mine available in the public domain."

Music for me and you

Herein lies Rahul's Music Portfolio. An insight into the different scales of emotions music can convey. Listed genres include Dubstep, Orchestral, Epic, Ethereal, and Rock music.
Rahul says, "I started uploading my music to Youtube on the advice of the impeccable Vishal Dadlani. He asked me to calm down as my work got the better of me. This channel is the occasional escape and indulgence. There is something for everyone really. A great many numbers of instruments and a whole lot of my emotions. Find something you like? Dwell in!"

Kankangi- The origin of Raamamaatya | Melakarta 01 | Carnatic fusion | Rahul Raghavan

Raag: Kanakangi Melakarta: 01 Chakra: Indu Katapayadi Sankya yields Aarohanam : S R1 G1 M1 P D1 N1 S Avarohanam : S N1 D1 P M1 G1 R1 S Western equivalent : 1 b2 bb3 4 5 b6 bb7 1. Here's my composition "Kanakangi- The origin of Raamamaatya" Raamamaatya is considered the father of the Melakarta system, the theory system we follow in Carnatic Music. The entirety of my music expertise leans towards western music. But, my heart has always inched towards the marvels of Indian Music time and again. The sad part? Indian music neither embraced western notation nor did it take over the world with its own notation system. So that leaves hybrid composers, such as myself, an opportunity for innovation, and a void to conquer. So, I sought out to learn it, experiment with it, and to innovate within it. How better, to do it than to follow a path that I've had the most experience within Music? Composing. I was composing even before I began teaching. The foundation for this endeavor began with me trying to learn the Carnatic Bamboo Flute. I still play and practice it and I try to keep my average skill. Still an amateur though. I put in a huge amount of time for research and learning before I sat down to compose. I loved every bit of it. You’ll find my research here in this article. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/kanakangi-melakarta-1-research-composition-rahul-raghavan The title of the composition is "Kankangi- The origin of Raamamaatya" and not the other way around because I believe that the music is what brought him alive.
